Safety in the sun
You can help to protect yourself from the risk of sunburn and skin cancer by following the precautions listed below.
Skin cancer is by far the most common cancer in Ireland.
- One in every eight men and one in every ten women will develop skin cancer by the age of 74 years.
- 9 in every 10 skin cancers can be prevented as they are caused by the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Damage to the skin by the sun is permanent.
